"The Ladies Of Cool™" is a themed tribute celebrating the artistry of Anita O'Day, June Christy, Chris Connor and Julie London. Classic songs audiences know and love. Glamorous, sophisticated, and hip define these women and their music. Kathy Kosins's new arrangements stay true to the tradition of lyricism and understatement, which are the hallmarks of the vocal style created by these women. Kathy tells the story of these women through their own words, anecdotes and a power point presentation.
"Rhapsody in Boop™" is a celebration of the songs that came out of the widely known Betty Boop films from the 1930's. The songs embrace women's liberation, politics, and sex. They were ahead of their time, having cutting edge contemporary arrangements featuring the music of Cab Calloway, Don Redmond, Fats Waller, Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington and more.
The show draws on the music contained in the 100 Betty Boop films. The show also uses music contained in the Fleischer Screen Songs. Kathy presents the back stories to these songs and then performs the songs in new arrangements that retain the spirit of the hit versions of these songs.
Ms. Kosins' stage show includes a full back screen animation and still photo power point presentation. Plus an On Screen/On Stage Follow The Famous Bouncing Ball Audience Sing-A-Long.
When you arrive at "LIVE BY REQUEST" you are greeted in the lobby by a larger than life menu containing the evening's musical selections. Kathy invites the audience to order from off the menu. You choose your favorite song from a menu of 200 Great American Songbook Classics. You can also choose the musical style in which your favorite song is presented. Your selections are placed in a basket, which is then taken to the stage at the beginning of the concert. And then you are in for a real treat of an evening of songs, stories and laughter.
